Gorjuss Girl

Hi blogland,

Long time no see........ LOL

Again apologies for doing being around very much and not paying visits to your fab blogs and leaving comments on your cards but kids and school holidays don't mix very well with crafting.... Roll on next week when they are back to school and my poor lonely craft stash can start to feel loved again!! LOL

Anyway I did make time to make a birthday card for a friend.

Recipe

Monday 9 August 2010

Good morning blogland,

Firstly I must apologise for not being around for so long - it's ages since I posted anything. And secondly apologise for not visiting your blogs and leaving comments - hopefully normal service will be resumed and you'll be inundated with new comments!!

The school holidays seem to have put paid to getting much crafting done.

I thought I'd share the card which I made to say thank you to my eldest's teacher.

Recipe
  • DP - Cosmo Cricket Material Girl & October Afternoon (I think!)
  • Image - Yale from Mo Manning
  • Other Images - Colouring Page Tuesdays - Elizabeth O.Dulemba
  • Sentiment - PC generated
  • Coloured with prismas and sansodor

Hopefully, I'll manage to get some time for crafting soon and be back with some new cards.

Enjoy your day, whatever you have planned. The sun is shining here so I think we're going to try and head out somewhere and enjoy it whilst we can!

Sugar Bowl Challenge 39 - Lillian's Sketch

Hi bloggers,

Hope you're all having a good weekend so far. So a quick post from me today. I've made another entry for the
Sugar Bowl Challenge and this time I've done it correctly!! LOL

Recipe
DP - Cosmo Cricket - Material Girl
Image - Gorjuss Girl, Sugar Nellie
Flowers - Xcut punch

Again I've left it simple and I figured I'd put a sentiment on it as and when the need arises.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sugar Bowl Sketch

So I'm back with my second posting of today and I've decided to use the sketch over at The Sugar Bowl - was meant to be an entry but I didn't read it properly and forgot the Theme had to be something blue...! Oh well never mind, that'll teach me to read it properly next time..... LOL

I didn't want to put too much on the card as the papers are so delish that I didn't want to take any attention away from them. I've paper pieced Bumblebee's dress in the same polka dot paper on the background, stickled her wings (which you can't really see) and then I've just punched out matching flowers.

Recipe
DP - MME Quite Contrary Paper Pack (freebie in mag)
Image - Gorjuss Girl Bumble Bee
Sentiment - Stash
Coloured with prisma pencils and sansodor
If you've got any Sugar Nellie images, you should head over to the challenge and enter this week, they have a fab prize up for grabs for one lucky winner - the 4 new 'Fun & Fairytales’ Mangas and a set of Aquamarkers.

New Baby......

Morning bloggers, well it's dull and overcast here today and blowing a gale force wind! Had to chase my bin down the drive once already.... wonder how many more times it will fly away! LOL

Todays card is one that I made last night for my friend Emma. We've known each other for nearly 9 years having started working together back in 2001 (I think it was). She had a beautiful baby girl last week.

How gorgeous is this image? It's Peekaboo from Karens Doodles and it's sooo cute. The papers are a freebie from The Craft Table. The letters, I've created myself using a font called Baby Building Blocks.

I feel like I want a bit of a crafty day today, so may be back a bit later if I manage to get anything made.

Enjoy your day folks.

Wedding Card - Order

Hi fellow bloggers, not been posting or visiting much over the last few days. Been busy putting this card together and doing other bits and pieces at home.

So today's card. I was asked by a guy I used to work for to make him a card for his best friend who is getting married this weekend - the only requirement he had was that he didn't want pink or girly!

And here's what I came up with.

I can't remember exactly what the paper is called but it is by Papermania and I bought it from the Range. I printed out a heart template and cut them out of Cream Bazzill card and then sat for about 20 mins stamping the swirls on one heart in silver ink. The sentiment is printed off the PC and the ribbon and pearls are from my stash.

Enjoy the rest of your day folks.

Again this challenge is a first for me. I've always loved these Miss Anya girls but have only just got them in my stash. I've already coloured up about 5 of them and will be putting cards together soon (hopefully!). They are such a pleasure to colour and I totally lurve them......

Isabella's Sketchbook Challenge

Good morning blogland, from a lovely sunny Wakefield. Not been around much these last few days so I apologise for not commenting on your lovely cards.

I've made a few cards over the last week but not got round to uploading.

You may remember that we won the blog candy from the lovely Peri a couple of weeks ago. One of the prizes was 2 images from Isabella's Sketchbook. I've made the following card using the Chocolate & Coffee image. These are not the kind of images I would usually use but I loved colouring it up. I wanted to keep the card clean and simple and I really enjoy doing these kinds of cards, it makes a difference from making fussy cards all the time.

I'm going to enter my first ever entry in to this weeks challenge over at Isabella's which is Take a Break - Open Challenge. So we can make any project using any image and any theme.

Recipe

I'll be back in a mo with probably another 2 posts as I've got another challenge card and birthday cards which I made for Ann-marie.

Baby's First Birthday

So I'm back with my second post of the day. It's my neighbour's little girls birthday on Sunday and I've made her the following card.

I had an idea in my head and for a change, it's turned out exactly how I wanted it - in the famous words of Hannibal from the A-Team "I love it when a plan comes together...." LOL

I folded a piece of A4 card and hand drew the number one so that part of it is on the folds (so when it's open, it is the same at the back and front).

Recipe
  • DP - Not sure the make, I think they are some scrap booking papers bought yonks ago
  • Eeyore is from a 2010 calendar which I bought half price earlier this year
  • Balloons - I hand drew these
  • Ribbon is from stash

I've attacked the the wings on Eeyore with stardust stickles (which I think you can just about make out!)

So thats a quick card and posting from me tonight. Enjoy your evening, whatever you're doing.

Time to Relax......?!

Hi all,

I'm back with a quick post this afternoon with a card I made for my little brother's birthday (altho he's bout a foot taller than me...!!). His birthday is on 4th July and I figured it would be fitting to go with the colour scheme of Red, White & Blue, given that it's Independence Day in the USA.

I wanted to use one of the images that I won from Peri's blog candy and "Time to relax" seemed just right.

Recipe

I've got a bit of time before I go to pick the boys up so think I might do a bit of crafting so may be back later.

Thanks for looking

Uptown Angel.....

Hi fellow bloggers....

Wow how fantastic has the weather been..?! It's been absolutely gorgeous here and even tho it rained last night (and boy was that a welcome thing!) it's cleared up and is sunny again.

It was my neice's birthday yesterday and I can't believe she's 12 (and already taller than me). My mum asked me to make a card from her and my dad so here's what I came up with.

Another easel card...... I love these (as if you couldn't tell... LOL).

Recipe

I picked this image as she reminds me a bit of my neice, as she's getting older, she's getting in to make up and clothes and is becoming a sassy little chick!

I tried to colour her hair the same sort of shade as my neice has - it's a gorgeous redy brown colour and hard to explain exactly what it's like - but it's one of those colours that you could never get at the hairdressers and I personally love it, with her beautiful big brown eyes she's a stunning lil lady.

Finally back again.....

Long time no see fellow bloggers...... LOL

After nearly 2 weeks away from making cards, I've finally managed to find some time to sit down and start creating. What with one thing and another that needed doing at home and the lovely weather, I haven't had any time (or inclination) to sit and craft.

After so long away, I thought I'd struggle to get back in the swing of it (as I usually do when I haven't done any for a few days) but surprisingly, the ideas started flowing..... Like I'd never been away... LOL

RECIPE

I'm in the process of creating another card, this time for a challenge so I'll be back tomorrow.

Enjoy your evening, whatever you're doing.

Not Lost......

Just a quick post to say that Ann-marie and I haven't gone AWOL but we've both been really busy with doing things in our houses and unfortunately our crafting has ground to a halt.

We're both suffering from withdrawal symptoms so will hopefully be back soon with new creations and I'm planning on blog hopping later today to see what everyone else has been up to and leaving comments as I go.

Anniversary Card for Ann-marie

Tomorrow is Ann-marie's first wedding anniversary and I can't believe how quick it has gone. I met Ann-marie at my own wedding 14 years ago when she had just started going out with my cousin Rob. We've been friends ever since and there is no-one I would rather have as a best friend - she's my female soulmate and I'd be lost without her.

I love Rob like a brother and he gives me faith that there are decent men out there and if I could find a man half as decent as him then I'll know I'm on to a good thing...!!

Their relationship makes me laugh and I love how they are with each other. I know that they'll be married forever and this first anniversary is the first of so many.

On to their card. I knew immediately which image I wanted to use and that I wanted to try and go down the vintage route. I'm not that good in creating vintage cards but had a good go at this one. I wanted to try and create an old photo effect but I don't have distress inks so I had to make do with using Ink It Up inkpads. It's turned out okay and has a bit of an old look.

You'll have to excuse this last photo, I forgot to take a proper picture of it at the same time as I took the 2 above and Ann-marie has now taken the card home so I've had to upload a picture I took last night on my mobile..!

Card for Jayme

So I've finally got round to making my card for Jayme. I've been wanting to get it done for a while but I've been busy with other things. If you haven't heard about the RAK for Jayme, check out her sister Lisa's blog. Lisa says

"I am having a special event for my sister Jayme. She is in her early 50's and has terminal lung cancer. To make it worse, her sweet dachshund Molly passed away a couple weeks ago. Today we learned her cancer has spread to several other areas and her time is running out. I am asking for all my card making friends to send her a fun card...not really get well cards obviously, but something pretty or funny that will make her smile. She is a frog collector so frog cards would be awesome! I have been blessed by all those I design for to have a wonderful offer of blog candy".

Details are on her blog about where to send the card etc. Closing date for her blog candy has been extended to 9th June.

Papertake Weekly Challenge #41

Good morning fellow bloggers,

Well what a dull and wet day we've woken up to and according to the forecast it's here for the day...!! On the plus side, at least my new veggies and plants will get a good watering....

Another challenge Ann-marie and I decided to enter was this weeks
Papertake Weekly Challenge - it's the first time either of us have entered this challenge. This is the sketch we have to follow:-

We decided that we were going to use Mummu from Mo's Digital Pencil as our image for this challenge. I love all Mo's images and they are a real pleasure to colour.

So on to my card:

Recipe

  • DP - Papermania Signature - Regency
  • Ribbon - Stash
  • Sentiment - Create with TLC
  • Corners - Kindly donated by Ann-marie (I've used the bits that pop out to frame the sentiment)
  • Coloured with prismas and sansodor and I've inked the edges with burgundy Ink It Up.

I'll be back soon to show another couple of cards I made last night.

Truly Scrumptious meets Colour Create - My Entry!

As Ann-marie mentioned below, we decided that we were going to enter a few challenges together and we've said that we have to use certain images on each entry to see what the other comes up with.

I really struggled with the Colour Create challenge this week - which is to use Soft Green & Light Aqua. I struggled mainly because I don't own any papers in these colours!! So after much mooching through my digi papers, I finally found some but I'm not sure if they all go together or not........
I absolutely love these colours together and they aren't the first 2 colours you would put together but I think they look lovely and I might have to be investing in some papers that go together....

To enter the Truly Scrumptious challenge this week, you have to follow the sketch provided. I've followed it almost identically but I've rotated the flowers to be underneath and not at the side as I didn't really like how they looked.

Recipe

I've used Stardust and Waterfall stickles on various bits, which I don't think you can see very well in the picture.

I'm off to go and do a bit more crafting, seeing how I've not done anything for over a week as I've been out in the garden sorting that out so we can enjoy it this summer (if it ever comes back..!).

First Magnolia card in ages......

Back again for my second post of the day.....

I've had a bit of a creativity block for the last few days and had bad headaches, so I had a bit of time off from crafting and low and behold my inspiration came back last night with a bit of a vengence..... lol

I haven't made a Tilda card for so long now and I really enjoyed colouring her up last night - I need to dust off my stamps and make more of an effort to use her.....

I got these new MME "Quite Contrary" papers the other day and thought Tilda with her umbrella was the perfect image to put with them. I cut the card around the top so it's actually not a full square card but shaped as per the layout.

RECIPE
Paper - MME Quite Contrary Jack & Jill
Image - Tilda
Cardstock - Bazzil
Flower - Papermania Henbury Lane
Coloured with prisma pencils

Enjoy your day whatever you are doing, I'm off to do a bit of cleaning and then maybe back to crafting.

I decided to have a bit of a splurge on her images and bought 5 of them so we've got plenty to be going on with......

Anyway I made 2 quick cards yesterday. The first is "Mariko is mad", I love the expression on her face and have admit that I know one or two little girls who have this look down to perfection...... The second is "Tolerance" - how cute is this little boy..?! The poor cat's face looks like he's resigned himself to his fate already.
