First Magnolia card in ages......

Back again for my second post of the day.....

I've had a bit of a creativity block for the last few days and had bad headaches, so I had a bit of time off from crafting and low and behold my inspiration came back last night with a bit of a vengence..... lol

I haven't made a Tilda card for so long now and I really enjoyed colouring her up last night - I need to dust off my stamps and make more of an effort to use her.....

I got these new MME "Quite Contrary" papers the other day and thought Tilda with her umbrella was the perfect image to put with them. I cut the card around the top so it's actually not a full square card but shaped as per the layout.

RECIPE
Paper - MME Quite Contrary Jack & Jill
Image - Tilda
Cardstock - Bazzil
Flower - Papermania Henbury Lane
Coloured with prisma pencils

Enjoy your day whatever you are doing, I'm off to do a bit of cleaning and then maybe back to crafting.

Just Magnolia's First Birthday Blog Hop with a twist meets Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Hiya, bit a late posting tonight....

Having taken a break from doing jobs on my TO DO list tonight, I decided that I would make a card for the Just Magnolia challenge this week, as well as Simon Says. I've really wanted to enter more challenges and thought I'd have loads of time once I'd given up work but how wrong could I have been.... LOL

I followed the sketch provided by Mina and rotated where the ribbon should be and slightly spaced out the embellishments at the bottom a bit. The theme at Simon Says this week is things wtih wings and this Tilda fitted that perfectly (and my butterfly!).

I've been practising how to do bows and am happy with how this one has turned out. My camera is so pants at taking pictures that you can't actually see the gorgeousness of the colour of this ribbon, it's a bit of a soft greeny/blue.

My camera also doesn't pick up the colouring very well, need to find someone who has a decent camera that they don't use...... Anyway my recipe:-
  • DPs - Rose Garden by Papermania (how delish are these......)
  • Image - Fairytale Tilda
  • Medium - Prisma Pencils and sansodor (not that you can see it on the pic.. :( )
  • Flowers - Bought from a trip to Ann-marie's local craft shop
  • Ribbon - From Ann-marie's stash (thanks chick)
Oh and if it didn't move it got stickled....... LOL - again not that you can tell on this pic...

Oh well better trot off to bed before it's time to get up again.

Tent Card

Hiya, hope everyone's had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the long weekend. Haven't really had much time for crafting the last few days with the boys being off school. We've managed a couple of days out so far and had a lovely day out with my mum and dad and 3 neices yesterday to a local farm. The weather held out thankfully, altho it was a bit windy, we did manage to sit and have a picnic and the kids had a good run around so were knackered when we got back......

It's my middle niece's birthday this weekend (can't believe she's 9 this year, don't where time goes anymore!) so I thought I'd share the card I've made for her. I wanted to have a go at something a bit different for her and tried my hand at a tent card. I've seen the tutorials and basically followed them, altho I made my card with one piece of card rather than 3. I just folded it in half and scored 1/2 an inch either side of that fold and then folded it accordingly. It's turned out okay and it stands upright which is the main thing...!! LOL

I used a jump ring to secure the image but because I didn't measure my circle before I drew it out, I didn't realise until I went to put it all together that Tilda is slightly bigger than the circle and kept catching on the bottom so I've stuck her down at her feet.

I absolutely love these new release Tildas and can't wait to use the rest of them. Fairytale Tilda is soooo gorgeous with her little frog and Pirate Tilda is lurrvely too. How on earth they continue to create such gorgeous images is totally beyond me... If you haven't seen them yet, check them out here at Simon Says Stamp where they are available to pre-order.

  • DP - My Minds Eye - Pretty Please
  • Image - "Wish Granted" Tilda from Magnolia
  • Sentiment - PC Generated
  • Medium - Prisma pencils and sansodor
  • Letters - Can't remember who makes them but i bought them from The Range
  • Pearls - Ebay
  • Flowers - Xcut Flower punch
I'm in the middle of making a card for my niece from my mum and dad and I'll be back to post that soon - I've put the card together, just waiting for the "Me and my pony" stamp from Lilli of the Valley - Lottie loves anything horse related and she was so excited yesterday when she knew there were horses and donkeys at the farm, bless her!.

I think it's back........

My mojo that is.......

It's taken a while but I finally think my mojo is making a come back and i'm finally getting back in to the swing of making cards. Can't believe that after not doing it for only a couple of weeks, how hard it is to get your head back in to it. I'm even laying awake thinking about new creations so normal service must be resumed....

Thought I'd share a card I made yesterday. It's one of those that when you are putting it together you aren't really sure about it but now that it's finished I actually quite like it..!!
I usually make the smaller easel cards but decided to make an A5 size as I really wanted to use the whole doilley and the lace.

DP - Shabby Princess - Festival
Card Stock - Bazzill (Cadillanac)
Lace - Local market
Flowers & Beads - Samual Taylor
Image - Tilda with Strawberries & sentiment & flower image is from the Magnolia Winter 09 Stamp Club Kit
Doilley - Samual Taylors
Pearls - Bought from Ebay

I've coloured her with my prisma pencils, blended with sansodor and paper stumps

Thanks for looking

Create4fun meets Crazy for Challenges with a bit of Simon Says thrown in for good measure...

Well after all the ups and downs of the last few weeks and finally finishing work, I've managed to slowly start getting back in to crafting and boy have I missed it. Seem to have mislaid my mojo at the moment though and not doing any crafting for the last few weeks has left me feeling a bit like a newbie again - it's taking me ages to put the cards together and I'm not that happy with my colouring but hey ho, hopefully now I'll be able to get back in to the swing of it all...

Anyway enough waffle, I've decided to enter a couple of challenges this week and hopefully I've got all the elements right and they fit in with each challenge. I've gone for Simon Says "A Splash of Green), Crazy4Challenges who want to see a Spring card (I'm hoping the colours and butterflies justify it being Spring like...) and I've used the sketch from Create4Fun.

  • Paper - Honey & Hugs by Papermania
  • Cardstock - Bazzil Card
  • Image - "Summertime Tilda in Hat" - coloured with prisma pencils and blended with sansodor
  • Flowers - Two tone pink roses and leaves from local craft shop, Cherry Blossom from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Butterflies - From Ann-marie (thanks chick, I absolutely love these and am gonna have to get myself the punch...)
  • Embellishments/Sentiment - Doilley is from Samual Taylor in Leeds, ribbon and gems are from my stash and the metal butterfly was bought from Ebay. The sentiment has been stamped using a Forever Friends stamp

  • I decorated the inside of the card with the striped paper to match the outer and stuck a doilley in the middle (definitely think it makes a huge difference decorating the inside to match). I've sticked her headband and socks with diamond stickles and not sure what has happened as it looks really dark and like the ink has bled slightly....... Again, my camera hasn't taken a very clear picture but whats a girl to do when her wish list increases by the day and a new camera is way down that list..... LOL

    Thanks for looking

    Cute Card Thursday

So it's almost the end of half term week and all the stress of early mornings and getting ready for school and works starts again on Monday morning..... Altho I'm now on the big countdown to leaving work and being a stay at home Mummy.... 3 Weeks and counting WOOOHOOO... lol Can you tell I'm looking forward to it??

We've been to the pictures today to see Percy Jackson and we really really enjoyed it, it's not quite as fab as Harry Potter but it was definitely good and something the boys want to get on DVD when it comes out.

So my big question today is "why is it you can't remember half of what you have in your crafty stash when you need a bit of inspiration... but then remember when you are lying in bed trying to get to sleep..??!" As shattered as I was last night, I laid awake for ages randomly remembering things in my stash that i'd almost forgotten about and then laid there thinking about things to make with it..... I'm sure I can't be the only person this happens to.

One of the things I was thinking about last night was trying to do a bit of distressing round the edges and I had a certain colour combo in mind and when the boys went off to bed, I thought I'd give it a go - I actually like how it looks and think the stickles round the edge just give it a little something (altho you can only just tell it's sparkly - as my camera really is pants...).

It hasn't picked up the colouring that well either and I'm really disappointed it's not really visible. Oh well something else to add to the wish list, either that or we need a friend who has a decent camera that we can borrow to take pictures.

Anyway here is tonight's creation. And it fits in with the Challenge at Cute Card Thursday - their requirement is to include something metal and that's where my butterfly comes in....

    • Burgundy cardstock - Stash
    • Wild Asparagus Paper - My Minds Eye
    • Lace - Local market
    • Swirls - Just seen under flowers - Cuttlebug Die Cut
    • Metal Butterfly - Ann-marie's stash (we share everything it all....)
    • Swizzels - Just seen on flowers, these are made using the stems from the flowers and spun round a paintbrush - thanks to Jane at Janeslovelycards for telling me how she did hers..

Simon says Happy Hello Hop AND Recipe Challenge

    Morning,

And what a miserable dull day it is - perfect excuse for more crafting me thinks....! LOL

So another first, I've created a card to enter in to the Simon says Happy Hello Hop AND Recipe Challenge :-). The rules are to create a card from their "recipe" which consists of:

    3 TYPES OF EMBELLISHMENTS

2 PATTERNED PAPERS you can also use coordinating cardstock :-)

    1 IMAGE

You also have to bloghop to each and everyone of their design teams blogs to have a look at their gorgeous creations and find a mystery letter on each blog. Then when you've bloghopped them all you have to unscramble all the letters then post a comment on Simonsaysstamp's blog with your answer and then link to your card.

So for my entry i've made this card (my camera is really pants and the pictures don't look that
    good).

So my 2 patterned papers are:

    • Wild Asparagus from My Minds Eye - I love the vintageness of this paper
    • And i've used Pink Bazzill card

My 3 types of embellisment are:

    • Flowers - I made these myself (and i'm quite proud of myself... lol). I bought a pack of craft stuff from Poundland and it had some small sheets of different coloured papers (kind of a handmade feel to it) so I cut it in to different size circles, sat for ages scrunching it up and it actually moulds really well and then I just stuck it all together.

    • Buttons - These are from stash (raided my mums button box...)

    • Pearls - The small ones are from Ebay and the bigger ones are from Hobbycraft
    The image is:

    • Tilda and she's from the Winter Stamp Club Kit - I've coloured her with my prisma pencils and used sansodor but again the camera doesn't pick it up very good and it looks like part of it isn't coloured....
I've used my Martha Stewart Punch and stuck some of the hearts to the edge and I've inked the pink border with a pink Ink it up pad and used the same ink to stamp the sentiment.

So that's it for the this entry and fingers crossed it qualifies.....
