One for the Boys..........

I can't believe the change in the weather.... where did the lovely sunshine go? Shouldn't complain too much considering the weather Scotland have got at the moment.....

I decided to have a go at making a boys card, as I don't really do them. It's not because I don't like them cos I actually enjoyed doing this but more because I don't really buy paper suitable for men/boys. As much as I love doing flowery, frilly cute girly cards, it was nice to do something simplistic.

I've used the "Courage" download from Summer Driggs, if you haven't checked out her kits, you should take a look, they are gorgeous. The colours and patterns of the papers in this set are luurvely (even includes a camouflage paper..! ). I cut the stars freehand from a template I printed off the PC and I've inked all the edges on the card with a brown Ink It Up inkpad.

I've decorated inside with matching papers. I really like decorating the inside as it gives the card more stability, nowt worse than creating a card that is front heavy and won't stand up and topples over.....

So here's my creation.....

  • Cardstock - Bazill Card (not sure which colour it is)
  • Image - I think it's Sugar Nellie Skate Boarder
  • DP - Summer Driggs "Courage" download
  • Embellishments - Stars made freehand, buttons from stash, Green Card Candy, metal brad from Ann-marie's stash
  • Sentiment - Bargain stamp I bought from Hobbycraft 79p......
Overall, I'm happy with how the card has turned out and for once I'm happy with how it's coloured... Now that's a first!!

Whiff of Joy Challenge - Bev's Sketch

Here's my first card made using the Whiff of Joy Shopping Willow. I've seen some gorgeous cards using this stamp, Dancing Party Willow and Dressing up Willow and couldn't wait to make something myself. They really are gorgeous to colour and I'm sure you'll be seeing many more of these.....

I'm going to enter the card in to this weeks Whiff of Joy Challenge, which is to create a card using the very talented Bev's Sketch. If you haven't seen her creations, you should check them out, she has some really gorgeous cards. So this is the layout to follow:

And heres my creation...

I really love the pink and blue on this card and they look gorgeous together me thinks....

DP - Papermania Blueberry Hill
Image - Whiff of Joy "Willow Shopping"
Cardstock - Bazzill Card
Flowers - Samual Taylor, Leeds (a pressie from Ann-marie - during another swapsie session ...LOL)
Ribbon - Samual Taylor
Pearls - Hobbycraft

Think that will be it from me today, I'm off to do a bit of clothes shopping for the boys (they grow so fast and I can't seem to keep up with all the new stuff they need.....) and then I have the pleasure in having my tea cooked for me at Ann-marie's tonight - first time we've had proper time together in ages and I can't wait to sit and craft and chatter and chatter and chatter....LOL

I think it's back........

My mojo that is.......

It's taken a while but I finally think my mojo is making a come back and i'm finally getting back in to the swing of making cards. Can't believe that after not doing it for only a couple of weeks, how hard it is to get your head back in to it. I'm even laying awake thinking about new creations so normal service must be resumed....

Thought I'd share a card I made yesterday. It's one of those that when you are putting it together you aren't really sure about it but now that it's finished I actually quite like it..!!
I usually make the smaller easel cards but decided to make an A5 size as I really wanted to use the whole doilley and the lace.

DP - Shabby Princess - Festival
Card Stock - Bazzill (Cadillanac)
Lace - Local market
Flowers & Beads - Samual Taylor
Image - Tilda with Strawberries & sentiment & flower image is from the Magnolia Winter 09 Stamp Club Kit
Doilley - Samual Taylors
Pearls - Bought from Ebay

I've coloured her with my prisma pencils, blended with sansodor and paper stumps

Thanks for looking

Create4fun meets Crazy for Challenges with a bit of Simon Says thrown in for good measure...

Well after all the ups and downs of the last few weeks and finally finishing work, I've managed to slowly start getting back in to crafting and boy have I missed it. Seem to have mislaid my mojo at the moment though and not doing any crafting for the last few weeks has left me feeling a bit like a newbie again - it's taking me ages to put the cards together and I'm not that happy with my colouring but hey ho, hopefully now I'll be able to get back in to the swing of it all...

Anyway enough waffle, I've decided to enter a couple of challenges this week and hopefully I've got all the elements right and they fit in with each challenge. I've gone for Simon Says "A Splash of Green), Crazy4Challenges who want to see a Spring card (I'm hoping the colours and butterflies justify it being Spring like...) and I've used the sketch from Create4Fun.

  • Paper - Honey & Hugs by Papermania
  • Cardstock - Bazzil Card
  • Image - "Summertime Tilda in Hat" - coloured with prisma pencils and blended with sansodor
  • Flowers - Two tone pink roses and leaves from local craft shop, Cherry Blossom from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Butterflies - From Ann-marie (thanks chick, I absolutely love these and am gonna have to get myself the punch...)
  • Embellishments/Sentiment - Doilley is from Samual Taylor in Leeds, ribbon and gems are from my stash and the metal butterfly was bought from Ebay. The sentiment has been stamped using a Forever Friends stamp

  • I decorated the inside of the card with the striped paper to match the outer and stuck a doilley in the middle (definitely think it makes a huge difference decorating the inside to match). I've sticked her headband and socks with diamond stickles and not sure what has happened as it looks really dark and like the ink has bled slightly....... Again, my camera hasn't taken a very clear picture but whats a girl to do when her wish list increases by the day and a new camera is way down that list..... LOL

    Thanks for looking

    YAY - First Follower......

Wow it's ages since either one of us posted and what with illness, leaving work and trying to catch up on every day life, our little land of blogging has unfortunately taken a bit of a back seat. But hopefully normal service will be resumed and I for one am hoping to have a bit more crafty time to myself now that I'm no longer working....

So, I've logged on today and found that we have our first follower.... WAHOOO!! Thank you very much Paola for being our very first follower.

Hopefully, one of us will be back very soon with more creations to show.
